His favorite thing right now is to say to me, when I ask what he’d like for a snack, “surprise me” with a smile & a twinkle in his eye. I love that. I love that I can surprise him with snacks … and make him say “oooooh this one is good!” (all with a bowl of grapes, sesame sticks & maybe a few gummies thrown in for good measure – haha!)
Earlier this week, me working on the couch, him sitting at our kid table working on his ‘work’ (aka coloring) … I said, “You know, I love you. And I think you are amazing.” I think I said a few other things too … I don’t really quite remember … but I do remember the smile that came across his face – the smile the crept all the way to the corners of his eyes – and how he stood up, walked over and gave me a hug – the biggest hug ever – went, sat down and said oh-so-quietly, “Thanks, mom.”
These are the days. Yep. They sure are. These are the days.

I wrote this post back in October (the 25th to be exact). I’m not sure why it didn’t get published, but every bit of it holds true today. “Surprise me” … <sigh> ♥
