Here are some fun things I’ve done:
*interned at an in-house photo studio of a downtown Chicago advertising agency, complete with riding the train & walking near Oprah’s studio
*had my work published in Family Circle magazine (the same one that you see on stands in the grocery store)
*had my work featured by professional photo labs, including in a booth at this year’s Imaging USA
*getting around in the bloggy world (like Momtog)

Oh & did I mention I’m raising four kids under six? That too.
Never a dull moment. But that’s all part of the master plan. It helps me in some small way know what to look for when photographing your own kids. I’m like a kid wrangler, with a camera.

  • I’m ready to book a session with you, how far in advance should I do that?

I am typically booked a month in advance & often-times further out than that during the busy season. Newborns should be booked well in advance of their due date (contacting me when you are 5-6 months pregnant is usually good). Quite a few of my moms will contact me as soon as they see that positive line – that’s great too! If you are looking to book a child or family session, 8-12 weeks is a good time frame. So April sessions should be scheduled in Jan/Feb & September sessions by June (for example).

  • What is your background in photography?

I feel very fortunate in that I have a fairly well-rounded background when it comes to my field. I have studied both in the classroom (physical & on-line) and ‘in real life’ by working with other photographers as well as interning with an in-house photo studio for an advertising agency in Chicago. I also pursue continuing education on my own, much like a few other fields (education, medicine, etc.).

I have a local baby display at Interior Women’s Health, in addition to being published in a national magazine (Family Circle), where I was hired by the photo editor to photograph a North Pole family of five for a particular feature. My greatest accomplishment is raising four kids under six on a daily basis. That is definitely the toughest job I’ve ever had.

  • What organizations are you a part of?

I am a member of PPA.

In addition to professional organizations, I’ve donated to our local Autism Society of America Golden Heart Chapter and Fairbanks Montessori as well as being a 2010 & 2011 sponsor of Bike to Work Fairbanks.
