- I’m ready to book a session with you, how far in advance should I do that?
The sooner you book, the better! I am typically booked 4-6 weeks in advance & often-times further out than that during the busy season. Newborns should be booked well in advance of their due date (contacting me when you are 5-6 months pregnant is usually good). Quite a few of my moms will contact me as soon as they see that positive line – that’s great too!
- How do you pronounce “MachC”?
MachC is a play on the word Moxie – so if you can say Moxie – you can say MachC - “Mach” is the same as mach speed (Mach2 Mach5) and the razor.
- What is your background in photography?
I feel very fortunate in that I have a fairly well-rounded background when it comes to my field. I have studied both in the classroom and ‘in real life’ by working with other photographers as well as interning with an in-house photo studio for an advertising agency in Chicago and doing scouting work for GoodYear Tire’s photography team. I also pursue continuing education on my own, much like other fields (education, medicine, etc.).
I have a local baby display at Interior Women’s Health, in addition to being published in a national magazine (Family Circle), where I was hired by the photo editor to photograph a North Pole family of five for a particular feature. My greatest accomplishment is continuing to raise my four kids, who are all five years apart. That is definitely the toughest job I’ve ever had.
- What organizations are you a part of?
I am a member of PPA.
In addition to professional organizations, I’ve donated gift cards and sessions to the following community organizations and events: North Star Youth Court, The Greater Fairbanks Community Hospital Foundation, and the 2012-2013 Fairbanks Go Red for Women Conference and Luncheon Event. I’ve also donated to our local Autism Society of America Golden Heart Chapter and Fairbanks Montessori as well as being a 2010 & 2011 sponsor of Bike to Work Fairbanks.
- Where can I see more of your work or find out more information?
If you are online, you can visit the Galleries tab above.
If you are out and about around town, you can pick up a business card from Interior Women’s Health, where I have a visual displays of babies & bellies in the exam rooms in addition to some coffee table albums out front.
- How long does a session last?
A typical child/sibling/family session is anywhere from 1-2 hours. A newborn session is usually more in the 2 hour range, although some have been shorter. I like to give plenty of time for breaks, hiccups, nursing & snacks.
- What props do you use?
Since I am not a very traditional portrait photographer, I don’t often use props – although sometime toys with the younger set can be helpful – they loved to be pulled in the wagon or ride around on a tricycle. I do love sentimental hats and blankets for newborns. If you have something special in mind that you’d like to bring, let me know and let’s plan for it!
- What if my child gets sick?!
Please let me know as soon as possible if it looks like your little one is coming down with something. If it is serious, we will definitely reschedule for the next soonest possible date.
- I have a question for you!
Great! Feel free to send me an e-mail!
